Back in the 1980’s I was recruiting for a company called Tetra, and the solution they sold was Tetra/CS3. I recruited Cobol developers for them.

Over time, that same solution has been called:

• Sage Line 200
• Sage Line 500
• And now Sage 1000

It is probably the biggest-selling ERP solution in the UK ever. It still offers clients incredibly robust, reliable ERP functionality, and there are still a huge number of clients running Sage 1000, because it works and they don’t want to spend £250K on a new system.

I see Sage 1000 as the Ford Transit of the ERP market. It is old, with 250,000 miles on the clock, but it does the job brilliantly, and who cares if it needs a new clutch once in a while!
